The 2025 Reality of Agentic AI in Cybersecurity
3:56

Over the past few years Agentic AI, characterized by its ability to make decisions without direct human oversight, has been making significant progress in not only becoming commercially viable but also beneficial to organization's cybersecurity efforts.

For the 2025 Cyber Security Tribe annual report, we asked our CISO community if their organization make use of Agentic AI within its cybersecurity?

The data was gathered through the Cyber Security Tribe's annual survey, conducted from December 2024 to January 2025. Download the full 2025 Annual Report for a comprehensive analysis of the present cybersecurity landscape.

Does your organization make use of Agentic AI within its cybersecurity?

Yes 0%
No 24%
Work in progress 59%
Unsure 17%

These results reflect how organizations (within our community) have not yet implemented Agentic AI, however, with 59% of organizations classing it as a work in progress, 2025 looks set to be the year for the adoption of Agentic AI within cybersecurity efforts.

We asked the Cyber Security Tribe Advisory Board - How do you see your organization using Agentic AI in the next 12 months?

Herman Brown - Cyber Security TribeHerman Brown: I do not see our organization using Agentic AI in the next 12 months unless a “canned” solution is developed that we could apply to our organization. Right now, the cost to develop AI does not provide us a financial incentive and due to the nature of our business we are also taking a very selective, deliberate, and responsible approach to implementing any non-security related AI solutions.

Jason ElrodJason Elrod: As this space evolves, I think all organizations need to plan to leverage Agentic AI for threat detection, predictive analytics, and automated responses. It will also be integral in analyzing risk patterns and enhancing decision-making processes for security operations. Threats at the speed of AI need defenses as the speed of AI.

Noureen Njoroge Cyber Security Tribe Advisory Board MemberNoureen Njorage: Automation in our customer experience enhancement i.e. faster customer support services, product recommendations. Also plan to leverage Agentic AI in fighting Fraud by enabling it to identify/flag anomalies for proactive mitigation.

Dr. Vivian Lyon 100x100 Cyber Security TribeDr. Vivian Lyon: The integration of AI agents into cybersecurity has introduced both groundbreaking efficiencies and new vulnerabilities. These intelligent systems are increasingly being used to automate threat detection, response, and other challenging security tasks, augmenting the capabilities of cybersecurity professionals.

However, although AI agents represent the next evolution of generative technology, their widespread adoption brings augmented risks that need careful attention. As AI systems evolve and become more autonomous, there is an escalating danger of adversaries manipulating or subverting them to carry out attacks at an unprecedented scale.

Therefore, the focus on building resilient AI frameworks, constant monitoring, and incorporating safeguards should be at the forefront to prevent misuse while ensuring these tools support, rather than undermine, our security efforts. As technology progresses, organizations should prepare for the opportunities and risks of AI in cybersecurity to create a safer digital ecosystem.

Kapil Bareja 100 x 100 Cyber Security Tribe Kapil Bareja: In the next 12 months, organizations are likely to leverage Agentic AI to enhance customer service, improve operational efficiency, gain deeper insights from data, bolster security, drive innovation, and optimize various business functions. By focusing on ethical AI practices, seamless integration, and skill development, organizations can maximize the benefits of Agentic AI and stay competitive in an increasingly AI-driven world.
