He has served as a Chief Information Security Officer and trusted advisor to boards, CEOs, and executive teams on cybersecurity strategy, AI governance, cloud transformation, and enterprise risk management.
Throughout his career, Matthew has positioned cybersecurity as a business enabler by aligning security investments with customer trust, revenue growth, regulatory readiness, and operational resilience. At Xactly, he established enterprise AI governance frameworks, modernized security architecture, and built a global Security Center of Excellence to support responsible AI adoption and enterprise transformation. He also developed customer trust programs and security strategies that helped accelerate complex enterprise sales cycles and strengthen market differentiation.
Previously, as Chief Information Security Officer at Logicworks, Matthew led information security governance, risk management, strategy, architecture, and compliance while helping scale the company through a period of rapid growth that culminated in its acquisition by Cox Communications. Earlier leadership roles at Crocs, FishNet Security, Optiv, Experis IT, and other security and consulting organizations included building global security operations, strengthening cyber resilience, and delivering technology strategies across complex enterprise environments.
Matthew is a recognized thought leader in cybersecurity, AI security, and digital transformation. He is the author of CISO Evolution: Business Knowledge for Cybersecurity Executives, which has been featured in the Forbes Executive Library, SANS Recommended Reading, and the Cybersecurity Canon. He has also served as an advisory board member for several security organizations, including Veracode, F5, Coalfire, CyberGRX, NopSec, 7AI, Viso Trust and YL Ventures.
Matthew holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer and Electrical Engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder and a Master of Business Administration from Colorado State University. He is a NACD Directorship Certified professional, a Boardroom Certified Qualified Technology Expert, and holds more than 14 technology and security-related licenses and certifications.
